Trochanteric
Bursitis

Trochanteric Bursitis is characterised by pain at the upper outer thigh over the bony prominence of the Greater Trochanter.  The hip joint itself is not involved. Pain may radiate down the outer thigh and painful to lay on.

Trochanteric Bursitis is an inflammation of a bursa which is a small sack of jelly like fluid which sits over the bony protuberance located on the outer upper thigh bone called the Greater Trochanter.

This condition commonly affects runners, cyclists, those who have suffered a direct trauma to the area from a fall, those with a leg length discrepancy and following hip surgery.

Addressing greater trochanter pain effectively requires expert care—visit us at MK Orthotics to learn more about how we can assist you.
